Manipulation is a similar technique as mobilisation but involves a sudden thrust at the end of the range of movement of the joint. This procedure is often accompanied by a pop or clicks which is the result of the release of pressure in the joint, similar to cracking one's knuckles.
This type of technique will be applied occasionally and most of the time at the end of the treatment, once all the muscles and structures are warm and relax. When the mobility is limited and we feel there is a lock at the of the movement, this technique will help us unlocking the blockage and restoring the normal mobility.
Mobilizations will be the preferred choice but this is a great addition in more complicated cases.
