Trigger Points

Trigger Points

When muscles are stressed or injured, they often form tender “trigger points” that feel like dense tight knots in the muscle tissue. These muscle knots can cause pain where it originates or further away, in a spot that seems complete unconnected. They are responsible for all pain syndromes, especially that caused by myofascial trigger points.

This technique it’s used as part of the deep tissue massage helping to release the most painful points. When finding these points, the therapist will maintain the same pressure for a few seconds or up to a minute. The body will signal the brain that the muscle it’s tight and the brain will send another signal to the muscle to relax. This process will continue and gradually we will feel the tension of the muscle diminishing accompanied by a decrease in pain levels.
